#10 [00:55] <Akiriza> I have been playing and it was fine until 2 days ago when my minecraft graphics went out
#11 [00:55] <xales> "went out"
#12 [00:55] <Akiriza>
#13 [00:55] <Akiriza> Stopped working properly I should say
#14 [00:55] <Wug> this isnt a forum, you don't have to tag links
#15 [00:55] <Akiriza> I know, but I need people to see what I see, it isn't easy to explain
#16 [00:56] <xales> Wug: graphics driver derp, or hardware derp
#17 [00:56] <xales> what do you think
#18 [00:56] <xales> or optiderp
#19 [00:56] <xales> Akiriza: are you using any mods at all?
#20 [00:56] <Wug> could be any of those thing
#21 [00:56] <Akiriza> No mods at all
#22 [00:56] <xales> Akiriza: Is the computer a laptop?
#23 [00:56] <Akiriza> No
#24 [00:56] <xales> hrm
#25 [00:56] <cestislife> I say drivers.
#26 [00:56] <xales> ??> Akiriza hopper/dxdiag
#27 [00:56] <VoxelHead> Akiriza: Follow the instructions here: http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/pixel-format-not-accelerated/support/
#28 [00:56] <Wug> try updating the driver
#29 [00:57] <xales> Wug: inb4 bsod
#30 [00:57] <Wug> if it still does it, its probably a hardware ossie
#31 [00:57] <Wug> issue*
#32 [00:57] * Wug panics his xales
#32 [00:57] * xales is panicing
#32 [00:57] * xales segmentation fault (core dumped)
#32 [00:57] * Wug pours water on xales
#32 [00:57] * xales core dumped all over Wug
#32 [00:58] <Wug> what exactly is core anyway
#33 [00:58] <Wug> like, what color is it
#34 [00:58] <Wug> and what consistency
#35 [00:58] <xales> wat
#36 [00:58] <Wug> is it slimy?
#37 [00:58] <xales> yes
#38 [00:58] <Wug> oh great
#39 [00:58] <xales> you know how when you carve up a raw chicken
#40 [00:58] <xales> there are lots of slimey parts in the middle you don't eat
#41 [00:58] <xales> well
#42 [00:58] <xales> mush that all together
#43 [00:58] <xales> heat it to around 120F
#44 [00:58] <xales> then that's core
#45 [00:58] <Wug> blender it
#46 [00:58] <Andrio> (If we could avoid the programmer brawl while there's someone who needs help...)
#47 [00:58] <xales> Andrio: they are on hopper doing stuff
#48 [00:58] <xales> :p

#56 [01:04] * EdRadley [EdRadley@notlogged] has joined #minecrafthelp
#57 [01:05] <EdRadley> a friend of mine is having some trouble. After the 1.6 launcher update, every time he tries executing minecraft it uses the old launcher even after re-downloading it
#58 [01:05] <Akiriza> https://gist.github.com/anonymous/1aaf3e8ef704b14a608a
#59 [01:05] <xales> EdRadley: They are running the old launcher, then. Downloading the new one doesn't magically replace the old one.
#60 [01:06] <xales> EdRadley: Tell them to delete the old launcher first.
#61 [01:06] <xales> Akiriza: Ah...uh.
#62 [01:06] <xales> Akiriza: That computer is incredibly old, and technically, doesn't support Minecraft a all. It's miraculous that you got it to work at all.
#63 [01:07] <xales> Akiriza: It's likely you burned out the card getting it to run Minecraft.
#64 [01:07] <Akiriza> It's worked for about 2 years
#65 [01:07] <Andrio> My old one didn't burn out, though..
#66 [01:08] * SeySayux [SeySayux@notlogged] has quit. (Ping timeout: 186 seconds)
#67 [01:08] <Akiriza> It's ran games from GTA San Andreas, to Morrowind, MMOs like Allods and Perfect World, and has minor difficulty with minecraft
#68 [01:08] <xales> Akiriza: I'm surprised it works *at all*. It's probably just dying from it's age, and being pushed to the very limits of it's capabilities for so long. You can actually literally melt part of it doing that for long enough.
#69 [01:09] <Akiriza> Even Half-Life 2 for that matter
#70 [01:09] <xales> Akiriza: None of those games are anywhere near as graphically complex as Minecraft is.
#71 [01:10] <Akiriza> Even Half-Life?
#72 [01:10] <xales> Akiriza: Minecraft looks simple, but for a computer, thousands of blocks is harder to compute than 10 guys and a bunch of buildings walking around.
#73 [01:10] <xales> Akiriza: Even Half-Life, yes.
#74 [01:10] <xales> Akiriza: Half-Life on the highest settings, yeah, it's not as bad, but the settings you would have been using?
#75 [01:11] * SeySayux [SeySayux@notlogged] has joined #minecrafthelp
#76 [01:11] <Akiriza> The lowest, to reduce lag
#77 [01:11] <xales> Yep, that's what I mean
#78 [01:11] <xales> Minecraft is more intensive for your computer than the lowest settings of Half-Life
#79 [01:11] <xales> You should really look into getting a new computer, that one doesn't look like it has much time left
#80 [01:12] <mattym> Akiriza: You still get that same messed up look each time you try it?
#81 [01:12] <Akiriza> The only difficulties I have currently is that if my character's hitbox phases through a block (which happens often) I will start to see strange textures
#82 [01:13] <Akiriza> And it will freeze for a short while every so often
#83 [01:13] <Akiriza> So the massive errors are done
#84 [01:13] <mattym> Have you played with the setting Advanced OpenGL: On
#85 [01:13] <xales> mattym: That will kill that card
#86 [01:13] <mattym> that may let you limp to the barn for a while longer
#87 [01:13] <xales> it can't do culling like that
#88 [01:13] <Akiriza> No, I turned it off
#89 [01:14] <mattym> Nah, wouldnt that make it less for it to render?
#90 [01:14] <xales> mattym: Only if it could actually do that
#91 [01:14] <xales> it can't
#92 [01:14] <Akiriza> Once I turned openGL off, some of the problems stopped
#93 [01:14] <xales> that works to load CPU tasks to the GPU
#94 [01:14] <xales> in this case
#95 [01:14] <mattym> ah, just no support for it then?
#96 [01:14] <xales> the GPU is so bogged down
#97 [01:14] <xales> that we want as LITTLE on it as possible
#98 [01:14] <xales> the CPU should do the culling on a machine like that
#99 [01:15] <xales> the GPU will be slower than DMA copies anyway
#100 [01:15] <xales> so it doesn't even matter
#101 [01:15] <mattym> Saw the pic not the dxdiag
#102 [01:15] <mattym> im surprised that card even did anything

#157 [02:07] <Fatetaker> yea, I have had this problem in the past during ver 1.6 beta
#158 [02:07] <user_> I have set up a minecraft server and it works fine except for one small problem. I am hosting it off of my internet on a seperate computer that is plugged into the router using ethernet. People can connect to the server using my external IP and I can connet to it on this computer using the personal IP off of the other computer. The problem is that I can only connect to it from this computer if I am using wifi, it will not work if I am using ethernet. A
#159 [02:08] <mattym> Wait
#160 [02:08] <mattym> does it work on Ethernet or Wifi for you?
#161 [02:09] <user_> wifi only
#162 [02:09] <mattym> When you connect to it via the Ethernet connection, are you using the external IP or the servers internal IP
#163 [02:09] <user_> ive tried every IP
#164 [02:09] <user_> idk what one im supposed to use
#165 [02:09] <mattym> either should work
#166 [02:09] <mattym> but some work better sometimes
#167 [02:09] <user_> :/
#168 [02:10] <user_> wierd
#169 [02:10] <user_> ill try some more i guess
#170 [02:10] <mattym> what is the ip you are currently using over wifi
#171 [02:10] <user_> the internal ip
#172 [02:11] <mattym> so like 192.168.X.X or so
#173 [02:11] <user_> yes
#174 [02:11] <mattym> ok
#175 [02:11] <user_> using the external doesnt work
#176 [02:11] <mattym> For some reason I remember having this problem at some point
#177 [02:11] <mattym> but cant for the life of me remember what i did to fix it
#178 [02:11] <user_> lol
#179 [02:12] <Fatetaker> all wins today :(
#180 [02:12] <mattym> Any chance the two computers have the same name?
#181 [02:13] <user_> nope
#182 [02:14] <mattym> only thing i can think of is that your router for some reason is blocking it
#183 [02:14] <user_> hm
#184 [02:14] <mattym> but that would make a home network impossible and they would have no reason to do it
#185 [02:15] <mattym> any chance in setting up the server you messed up another setting
#186 [02:15] <user_> possibly idk
#187 [02:16] <user_> there was one part i skipped on the portforwading website cuz it says it was optional
#188 [02:16] <mattym> do you remember what it was
#189 [02:16] <mattym> cause that sounds like it could be it
#190 [02:16] <mattym> The fact that others can connect means its is forwarded properly
#191 [02:17] <mattym> but you may have had to do something else to route yourself in
#192 [02:17] <user_> when i entered the port to forward and what not, there was another section below it that the portforwardhelp website said to fill in but i didnt
#193 [02:18] <user_> it just asked for the port again and the udp/tcp stuff, i guess ill try that and see

#287 [03:10] <Sophia_> the new world is working, but I really like my other world :c is there a way to fix it?
#288 [03:10] <cestislife> There is.
#289 [03:10] <mattym> Sophia_: Any chance you are using mods?
#290 [03:10] <Sophia_> YES
#291 [03:10] <mineivan> thank you for your help
#292 [03:10] <Sophia_> nope
#293 [03:11] <cestislife> ??> Sophia_ mcedit/repair
#294 [03:11] <VoxelHead> Sophia_: If your world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
#295 [03:11] <cestislife> ??> Sophia_ mcedit/entity
#296 [03:11] <VoxelHead> Sophia_: In order to remove entities from a map, follow these steps. Warning: This will delete any and all entities in the selected region, including tamed animals!
#297 [03:11] <cestislife> ??> Sophia_ mcedit
#298 [03:11] <VoxelHead> Sophia_: Open the map in MCEdit, select the affected region or use CTRL-A to select the whole world, then click on 'Delete Entities' in the menu on the left hand side.
#299 [03:11] <VoxelHead> Sophia_: To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.

#301 [03:11] <mattym> cestislife: My laptop has two GPU's the low-power on chip one, and the high power descrete one, they still call that dual graphics
#302 [03:11] <cestislife> Dual graphics usually means two dedicated graphics card, not the integrated one + dedictaed.
#303 [03:12] <cestislife> dedicated*
#304 [03:12] <cestislife> But eh
#305 [03:12] <mattym> it should mean that
#306 [03:12] <cestislife> terminology.
#307 [03:12] <mattym> but they use the term loosley
#308 [03:12] <Sophia_> hold on, are villagers going to be deleted if i do this?
#309 [03:12] <cestislife> Sophia_: Afraid so.
#310 [03:12] <mattym> mostly cause everyone just wrongly refers to two discrete cards "SLI"
#311 [03:12] <Sophia_> NOO i just cured so many stupid zombies and my gold is gone and ahfdjsfh, jfoeawidje okay thanks for your help
#312 [03:13] <cestislife> You could just spawn some in for compensation.

#691 [12:00] <Moz> I spent so much time setting this up in survial mode!!
#692 [12:00] <clarjon1> Moz: drop 'em from one less block in height, and punch 'em till they die.
#693 [12:01] <clarjon1> Moz: ( Move the bottom of the trap up one block, and build it so that there's an opening where their legs can be seen, so they can't shoot you, but you can hit them :3 )
#694 [12:01] <Moz> haha, I'd do that, but it's impossible with my setup.

#936 [15:16] <Thrae> tridentXfantom: One thing that can show possible packet loss is if a server on the route has a high latency. Example: You start off at 122 ms 141 ms 137 ms yourisp, and then somewhere it jumps up to 600 ms 621 ms 632 ms somewhere

#1089 [15:49] <Daihak> Hey guys I was in here yesterday trying to set up a server but ran into a problem with my router the guys here thought my internet company had set up a double-NAT to block me from being able to host but I forgot my ISP didnt actually supply the router I had to go and buy it myself to LAN with other computers in my house.
#1090 [15:49] <Plumeex> Hello, I'd like to use some Java Regular Expression but I'm lost. What I want to set is the "<" character follewed by any letter EXCEPT "P".
#1091 [15:49] <Plumeex> (I hope it's clear ._.)
#1092 [15:49] <Thrae> tridentXfantom: Hmm, well you have no packet loss, though the TTL is pretty low. If you do it for a server that works, is the TTL higher or lower?
#1093 [15:50] <stupid3700> alan: Install all available updates in Software Updates.
#1094 [15:50] <Plumeex> I tried stuff like "<!P" but... no
#1095 [15:50] <Daihak> So my question is how did I somehow end up with two internal ip's on my router and how can I get into it to change that or any ideas on what could be happening ??? my router should not be showing 2 ips correct?
#1096 [15:51] <Thrae> Daihak: What do you mean two internal IPs? The router itself will have its own IP, like 192.168.1.1, then it will give your computer an IP, like 192.168.1.100. And you may have an IPv6 address, like 2001:0db8:85a3:0042:1000:8a2e:0370:7334
#1097 [15:52] <tridentXfantom> Thrae: This server works https://gist.github.com/tridentXfantom/386ae57e58f6980c7b25
#1098 [15:52] <Daihak> when I run router detecor it shows 2 routers that it cannot identify and gives two different ips

#1109 [15:54] <Thrae> Daihak: 142.46.137.253 is not a private address, so it's most likely a router on your ISP's end, or somewhere along your route, that just happened to respond.

#1196 [16:14] <Daihak> sorry 255.255.255.0
#1197 [16:14] <Extreme> Daihak: you don't need to worry about that
#1198 [16:14] <Thrae> Daihak: Well it IS possible your router is set to bridge subnets, but that's just weird. I would think your modem would be a more likely culprit, and that it could actually be configured with NAT routing and give out private IP addresses, but not have a switch to allow it to connect to more than one computer.
#1199 [16:14] <Thrae> Daihak: That, I have seen before, the modem setup as a NAT router, but not having a built-in switch or wireless.
#1200 [16:15] <Daihak> Ya I thought of that to my company swore they were not set up for that but lying is easy
#1201 [16:16] <Daihak> I called them up today and they claimed they werent setup up for double_NAT
#1202 [16:16] <Chris_> Ok here. https://gist.github.com/anonymous/739d86e084aca30f9fc6
#1203 [16:16] <Thrae> Daihak: The easiest way to dissect your network is to physically dissect your network. Unplug the router and modem, plug the modem by itself into your desktop, see what DHCP info you get (IP address, gateway, etc.) and then do the same with the router, but with the modem unplugged. Make sure in both cases, ONLY your computer is plugged into the device.
#1204 [16:17] <Thrae> Daihak: Your roommates may complain, but explain it's kinda necessary for the maintenance of your network regardless of Minecraft to be able to access your router's settings.
#1205 [16:17] <stupid3700> Chris_: Please try the following: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18223&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%2832-bit%29*&DownloadType=Drivers

#2057 [23:07] <uguysareawesome> is there a way to fix it
#2058 [23:07] <xales> uguysareawesome: If you have a backup, that is the easiest way.
#2059 [23:07] <xales> uguysareawesome: Otherwise, open the world in MCEdit and re-save it.
#2060 [23:07] <xales> uguysareawesome: If that does not fix it, post it on the forum in one of the "fix my world" threads.
#2061 [23:09] <uguysareawesome> where is mcedit
#2062 [23:10] <xales> uguysareawesome: Google it.
#2063 [23:11] <Bugboy1028> ??< mcedit

#2067 [23:13] <xales> uguysareawesome: We can't help you use MCEdit, because it's a third party program. If you can't figure it out, then don't use it.
