#295 [17:50] <GreyVulpine> Are you using any kind of security/firewall software on that server?
#296 [17:50] <xales> are you running any kind of security software? firewall?

#298 [17:50] <LigerXT5> Zonealarm and avira, should I turn them off for a bit?
#299 [17:50] <xales> yes
#300 [17:50] <GreyVulpine> Zonealarm.
#301 [17:51] <GreyVulpine> That has been known to cause some problems
#302 [17:51] <LigerXT5> lol, ok, this would be a first for me then. Played many games and set up servers and never had an issue

#324 [17:54] <mbentley> haha
#325 [17:54] <GreyVulpine> You haven't had to help a mac user running a server through parallels. Took me a good hour to figure that out
#326 [17:54] <fogwraith> Indeed, Kealper ;)
#327 [17:54] <Fluuux> its still the same thing/ although different version, idk if minecraft could be downloaded into those macs
#328 [17:54] <GreyVulpine> over teamviewer.
#329 [17:54] <xales> Fluuux: not at all
#330 [17:54] <GreyVulpine> That was hellish
#331 [17:54] <xales> os9->osx uses a different codebase I believe
#332 [17:54] <LigerXT5> my laptop can't connect, going to restart the server and see if that works. Laptop Zonealarm is off too
#333 [17:55] <Kealper> os7 and osx are two completely different things :/
#334 [17:55] <xales> LigerXT5: what IP are you trying to use
#335 [17:55] <xales> from the laptop
#336 [17:55] <xales> Kealper: and os7 won't support java

#509 [19:31] <mbentley> might double check your port forwarding
#510 [19:31] <mbentley> that's strange. that's usually your router
#511 [19:33] <Servernoob> Oh mighty minecraft gods... I am having a bit of a dilemma with my server. for some reason anyone without an extremely powerful computer can't play on my server, they get what i call a ghost block effect. Which is where you mine a block and it pops back up after 2 or three seconds. I play on my computer (quad core phenom) and it's perfect
#512 [19:33] <kirbycool> Minecraft (start port) 25565 (end port)25565 192.168.1.2
#513 [19:34] <mbentley> that is pointing to 192.168.1.2. check your local ip on your server kirbycool
#514 [19:34] <Servernoob> But on my other PC (dual core athlon) gets the ghost block effect... Server is not run on my phenom PC, it's on a separate PC unrelated to the previous two..
#515 [19:34] <mbentley> Servernoob: and you are sure you aren't trying to mine around the spawn?
#516 [19:34] <mbentley> ah
#517 [19:34] <kirbycool> how do i do that
#518 [19:34] <mbentley> what os?
#519 [19:35] <Servernoob> Yes, it happens anywhere in the world. It doesn't always happen, But when it does there isn't really a fix.. just random. it happens with using switches and opening doors as well. OS is windows for all users
#520 [19:35] <kirbycool> windows 7
#521 [19:35] <mbentley> start > type 'cmd' then in the command prompt window, type in 'ipconfig' and look for a line with 'ipv4...'
#522 [19:36] <kirbycool> 192.168.1.4
#523 [19:36] <kirbycool> so is that the problem?
#524 [19:36] <mbentley> then your local ip changed
#525 [19:36] <kirbycool> thats wierd. so i port to that?
#526 [19:36] <mbentley> i would consider setting a static ip
#527 [19:36] <mbentley> yes
#528 [19:37] <kirbycool> i set a static ip in my router settings?

#538 [19:39] <xales> Servernoob: blocks respawning is due to lag

#540 [19:39] <xales> network lag sounds more likely
#541 [19:40] <xales> it also explains why it doesn't lag when you play locally
#542 [19:40] <Servernoob> But why is it i never experience it? regardless of if i am local or accessing from the net
#543 [19:40] <xales> if you are playing on the same computer, it is a local connection
#544 [19:41] <mbentley> maybe your internet isn't enough. how many users? what sort of internet speeds do you have?
#545 [19:41] <Servernoob> No, playing a different machine, accessing from my dyndns link to the server. my other local machine lags if it is connected

#549 [19:41] <Servernoob> only 2GB of DDR

#551 [19:42] <Kealper> ehh...not too good, but it should do a small server just fine

#651 [20:02] <Fluuux> :D
#652 [20:02] <Kealper> try running both server and client off your main pc...it should handle it just fine
#653 [20:03] <Servernoob> Main PC isn't on 24/7
#654 [20:03] <Kealper> oh :/
#655 [20:03] <xales> if you want a server available 24/7
#656 [20:03] <mbentley> well just to test
#657 [20:03] <xales> hosting it at home is very bad idea
#658 [20:04] <KillSpammar> What xales said
#659 [20:04] <Kealper> yea, run it off your main for the night, and see if anyone lags, if they don't..then you know it's that p4 that just sucks, if they do, then you know it's your net that sucks
#660 [20:04] <KillSpammar> I suggestion you use Allgamer and something.
