#20 [01:39] <cosmicvoyager> hello, where can i increase minecraft RAM?
#21 [01:41] <SmilingDevil> cosmicvoyager, how much RAM is Minecraft currently using and how much do you have installed?
#22 [01:42] <cosmicvoyager> i have 8GB RAM
#23 [01:42] <cosmicvoyager> I know there is a text somewhere to edit but i forgot wehere it is
#24 [01:42] <SmilingDevil> How much is Minecraft using?
#25 [01:43] <cosmicvoyager> i dont know...a friend asked me how to increae ram
#26 [01:43] <cosmicvoyager> can you tell pme please?
#27 [01:43] <SmilingDevil> cosmicvoyager, http://bit.ly/HWRaYq
#28 [01:43] <cosmicvoyager> i ant find it at minecraft.net or minecraft wiki
#29 [01:43] <SmilingDevil> Go to the link I said
#30 [01:44] <SmilingDevil> 3rd link should do
#31 [01:45] <cosmicvoyager> ok but i already googled nd could not find. i assume is should be promanently locate on a promenant web site like minecraft.net or the wiki. it must be an extremely FAQ
#32 [01:45] <cosmicvoyager> ill look again...
#33 [01:46] <cosmicvoyager> the top serach result is for server RAM not client RAm
#34 [01:47] <cosmicvoyager> ok the seoconf search result does not make any sense to me...i just want to know where the file is
#35 [01:49] <SmilingDevil> cosmicvoyager, <SmilingDevil> 3rd link should do
#36 [01:49] <SmilingDevil> Click the 3rd link.
#37 [01:50] <cosmicvoyager> SmilingDevili didnt ask you how to serach for teh info, i asked for the info itself...if your not goin to answer the question than there is no point in saying anything
#38 [01:52] <SmilingDevil> It's not that hard to click on a link cosmicvoyager.
#39 [01:52] <cosmicvoyager> i did click the link and i do not see the answer to my question
#40 [01:52] <WuggsBoson> cosmicvoyager: the point is
#41 [01:52] <WuggsBoson> you have to look for the answer
#42 [01:52] <cosmicvoyager> if there is a file with the setting somewhere..i want to know the location of it
#43 [01:52] <WuggsBoson> its very well documented
#44 [01:52] <WuggsBoson> there isnt
#45 [01:52] <WuggsBoson> you will have to make one
#46 [01:53] <WuggsBoson> do you have 64 bit java
#47 [01:53] <SmilingDevil> http://www.gamespot.com/minecraft/forum/how-do-you-increase-the-allocated-memory-for-minecraft-58292175/
#48 [01:53] <cosmicvoyager> is teh info on minecraft.net or minecraftwiki.net?
#49 [01:53] <SmilingDevil> It's not that hard.
#50 [01:53] <SmilingDevil> First freaking link.
#51 [01:54] <SmilingDevil> 3rd reply. Was that so hard?
#52 [01:54] <cosmicvoyager> my serch results did not show the gamespot article
#53 [01:54] <SmilingDevil> All I did was search, "how to increase allocated memory to Minecraft"
#54 [01:54] <SmilingDevil> lrn2google
#55 [01:55] * Tminus [Tminus@notlogged] has joined #minecrafthelp
#56 [01:55] <cosmicvoyager> it should be assumed that before i asjed, a searched with googl and could not find it
#57 [01:56] <Wug> cosmicvoyager: it helps if you google the question you have
#58 [01:56] <Wug> also nobody does that
#59 [01:56] <cosmicvoyager> so that is why i asked here
#60 [01:56] <Wug> for questions like this, if you're asking, you didn't google well enough
#61 [01:56] <SmilingDevil> Again, try rewording your search
#62 [01:56] <Wug> its an elementary question with a well documented answer
#63 [01:56] <SmilingDevil> Don't just be like, "I CAN'T FIND IT I MUST NEED ASSISTANCE"
#64 [01:58] <cosmicvoyager> that page says "You can change the allocated memory in the Java section of your control panel to increase it" as far as i know i do not have anything called a control panel
#65 [01:59] <cosmicvoyager> however, i just opened the minecraft app package and there is a file called info.plist and in it there is a line that reads "<string>-Xms512M -Xmx1024M</string>
#66 [01:59] <cosmicvoyager> "
#67 [01:59] <cosmicvoyager> i wonder if that could be it
#68 [02:02] <Wug> cosmicvoyager: are you using windows
#69 [02:02] <Wug> sounds like mac
#70 [02:02] <cosmicvoyager> no. mac
#71 [02:03] <Wug> you would then google "how to give minecraft more memory mac"
#72 [02:03] <Wug> google does not magically identify context, you must provide it yourself

#80 [02:31] <johnq> This is immediately following a power outage, but I am pretty sure this issue is not data corruption. I.e., if I download a fresh .exe, and run it in a new location, the same thing happens.
#81 [02:35] <Scott> JohnQ: I am willing to bet you have corrupted regions
#82 [02:35] <JohnQ> I might. But if I start it in a new directory it should create a new world.
#83 [02:35] <JohnQ> And it does not.

#88 [02:37] <JohnQ> No window opens..
#89 [02:37] <JohnQ> Nothing.
#90 [02:37] <JohnQ> main() { exit(0); }
#91 [02:37] <Wug> try updating java?
#92 [02:38] <Wug> its unlikely that java would break from a power hit like that but stranger things have happened
#93 [02:38] <JohnQ> Hmm.. thats an idea. I'll try that.
#94 [02:39] <JohnQ> Interesting. I think you may be on to something. Clicking the java control panel also does nothing. :-)

#96 [02:40] <TheComputaHacka> JohnQ: what do you want to happen?

#220 [07:28] <sogeking99> oh a lever does the same thing, just closes it

#311 [10:15] <cfdpipeman> I do
#312 [10:15] <AmberK> http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/multiverse-core/ is multiverse
#313 [10:15] <cfdpipeman> OK, I will look into that route. Thanks.
#314 [10:15] <AmberK> I recommend Pex for a manager http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/permissionsex (bPerms is easier, but not as good: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bpermissions )
#315 [10:18] <Morrolan> I, on the other hand, recommend bPermissions. :P
#316 [10:18] <Morrolan> You'll find quite a number of people recommending the one or the other, and some of them like to throw mud at the "enemy" as well.

#482 [12:49] <Calinou> SmilingDevil, world corruption.
#483 [12:50] <SmilingDevil> Calinou, typically no
#484 [12:50] <Calinou> ^ reason you should not ctrl+c a minecraft server
#485 [12:50] <Calinou> also, player data corruption possible, leading to duplication
#486 [12:50] <Calinou> *server admin tells the server will stop* *player puts diamonds from inventory to chest* *server restarts* *yay double the amount*
#487 [12:50] <SmilingDevil> Calinou, if a player's data is corrupted, it resets iirc
#488 [12:50] <Calinou> no it is kept
#489 [12:50] <Calinou> corrupted as in "delayed save" I mean
#490 [12:51] <SmilingDevil> Why would it double though?

#593 [14:55] <GreyVulpine> It may behoove you to ask first, to describe the lagging, and whether it's at the menu, in single player, or multiplayer

#607 [15:00] <VoxelHead> darcknes: (win/reinst) You may need to reinstall the locally installed files that Minecraft puts into place.

#609 [15:00] <darcknes> Tryed that

#836 [17:06] <killfront> eneyone
#837 [17:07] <Morrolan> You could use a tool like MCNostalgia to downgrade a current server.
#838 [17:07] <Morrolan> You can't, however, download a 1.2.3 directly.
#839 [17:08] <Morrolan> Also, it's "anywhere" and "anyone", not "eneywhere" or "eneyone" ;)
#840 [17:08] <killfront> mcnostalgia works for servers too
#841 [17:08] <Morrolan> I believe it does.
#842 [17:08] <Morrolan> But I have to admit I never tried it myself.
#843 [17:08] <killfront> ok ill try it ty eneyway
#844 [17:10] <Morrolan> Hmm, seems I'm wrong, don't see any server versions listed on that tool's forum thread.

#867 [18:11] <Stygander> i guess ill use nei, but its gonna be slow for now

#869 [18:12] <Stygander> im trying to sort out what content packs use what ids for flans
#870 [18:13] <Zeus5966> usually you can just have a look in their configuration files
#871 [18:13] <Zeus5966> they tend to put them there so you can change them
#872 [18:13] <Stygander> ahh okay, hmm ill need to find then each one

#875 [18:15] <Zeus5966> hmmm okay
#876 [18:15] <Zeus5966> just look around the .minecraft a bit then

#878 [18:16] <Zeus5966> Oooooh I see what you mean.
#879 [18:16] <Zeus5966> In that case, no, there is no program that does that. Unless you want to ask someone to mod it.
#880 [18:17] <Stygander> hmm well i guess i could just search for .txt files
